Tourism, Creative Economy Programs Prepared for 2025

According to reporting from Antara News, Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has devised several programs to strengthen the country’s tourism and creative sectors in 2025.

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said in a press statement received from his ministry on Saturday (7/9/24,) that the programs had been proposed to the House of Representatives (DPR).

During a meeting with the House’s Commission X on Friday (6/9/24), Uno said that the programs place emphasis on digitization to develop tourism villages and improve the quality of human resources for the creative sector, reports Antara News.

“It (digitization) turns out to be instrumental in stimulating creativity and innovation, (highlighting) local wisdom, and boosting sales,” he said.

The minister expressed hope that the programs would help elevate people’s living standards and enhance the capacity of those involved in the tourism and creative sectors, says Antara News.

On the same occasion, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, made similar remarks, saying that the ministry is resolute to pay closer attention of the quality of Indonesia’s tourism and creative economic talents in 2025.

Next year, the ministry would continue to strive for quality and sustainable tourism activities and destinations while strengthening the ecosystem of intellectual property-heavy creative economy products, she said.

Meanwhile, Head of the House’s Commission X Syaiful Huda, who presided over the hearing session, emphasized that the House fully supports the government’s plans, according to Antara News.

The lawmaker also stated that his side would push for increasing the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry’s 2025 indicative budget ceiling by around IDR 3 trillion (approximately USD 194.7 million).

“The Commission X members within the DPR Budget Committee are expected to continue to exert all efforts to increase the budget of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, considering the ministry’s critical role in developing Indonesia’s tourism and creative economy,” he said.
