Ministry: Immigration Services Restored

Indonesia’s Law and Human Rights Ministry’s Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, has announced that immigration services have been restored following disruption to the National Data Center (PDN), according to reporting from Antara News.

“Related to his, I appreciate the recovery steps taken by the immigration officers who acted quickly and worked 24 hours to restore the immigration system,” Karim noted in a written statement received by Antara News on Monday.

He explained that the digital immigration crossing system was successfully restored on Saturday (22/6/24) evening and has run normally since.

Karim remarked that the main immigration checkpoints, such as the Soekarno-Hatta, I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Juanda, Kualanamu, and Hang Nadim Airports, as well as Batam Center and Nongsa Ports, are now able to serve immigration checks again.

Meanwhile, the operations of immigration autogates, visa, and residence permit applications returned to normal on Sunday (23/6/24) morning, reports Antara News.

In addition, Karim pointed out that the M-Paspor and Cekal Online applications have also fully operated normally as usual.

According to Antara News, immigration decided to move its database center 12 hours after a technical problem was identified at the Communication and Informatics Ministry’s national data center. The reactivation of the immigration system in the new data center took two days.

“The relocation of the data center is to restore public services,” Karim said.

He is optimistic that the ministry’s data center will soon recover and return to normal, considering several public services depend on it, says Antara News.

“We cannot wait for the center to recover. The public interest is a priority while the IT team is restoring the system so that people, who will travel in and out of Indonesian territory, can be well-served,” Karim stated.
