Kominfo: Microsoft to Invest in Indonesia

Usman Kansong, the Director General of Communication and Public Information at the Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) Ministry has announced that Microsoft plans to establish a data center in Indonesia with an investment valued at IDR 14 trillion, according to reporting from Tempo.

He also confirmed that the CEO of the U.S.-based multinational company, Satya Nadella, is set to visit Jakarta at the end of this month to discuss the investment.

In addition to the investment plan, Microsoft is also set to launch a project aimed at empowering Indonesia’s digital economy.

“Through this project, Microsoft can help increase state revenue by up to USD 6.3 billion or more than IDR 91 trillion, including the creation of 60,000 new jobs over the next four years,” he said.

Tempo reports that Nadella’s upcoming visit to Jakarta will be the second visit of CEOs of global tech giants, following the visit of Apple’s CEO Tim Cook. Cook met with President Jokowi at the Jakarta Presidential Palace on Wednesday (17/4/24,) where they discussed investment and regulations that would facilitate investment plans.
