Pertamina Signs Agreement with Turkish Company on Geothermal Energy

Turkey’s Anadolu Agency is reporting that Indonesian state-owned Pertamina Geothermal Energy, a subsidiary of Pertamina Oil and Gas, signed the agreement with Kipas Holding, a Turkish geothermal energy producing company in Istanbul, on Friday (3/2/24) signalling a step toward further strengthening cooperation with Turkey.

According to Indonesia’s diplomatic mission in Ankara, the agreement marks the beginning of joint exploration and investment between the two companies in Turkey, Indonesia, and other countries.

Indonesia’s Ambassador Achmad Rizal Purnama witnessed the signing ceremony between Mehmet Sisman, general manager of Kipas Holding, and Julfi Hadi, chief executive officer of Pertamina Geothermal Energy, says Anadolu Agency.

Purnama indicated that renewable energy was a “high-priority sector” for the Indonesian mission in Turkey.

“This cooperation would lead to the sharing of expertise, technology, and resources between the two nations in promoting sustainable energy practices on a global scale,” said the Indonesian Embassy.

Lauding Turkey as the fourth-largest geothermal supplier, Hadi said Ankara’s policy in the geothermal sector “is attractive, offering feed-in-tariff, which is beneficial for long-term foreign investment,” according to the Anadolu Agency.
