OIKN Invites the University of Seoul to Become a Knowledge Partner

The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) has invited the University of Seoul, South Korea, to become one of its knowledge partners to improve the quality of human resources in the future capital city, according to reporting from Tempo.

“We welcome all national and international universities to join us as knowledge partners,” said Mohammed Ali Berawi, OIKN Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, on Monday (22/1/24) adding that knowledge partners help to improve the quality of human resources in IKN.

The authority also invites the University of Seoul to participate in research in IKN, especially in the fields of energy, food and transportation, socio-humanities, environment conservation, technology, and informatics, say Tempo.

Professor Chunho Yeom and Professor Hyemin Park from the University of Seoul offered several advanced education programs for the IKN workforce. These included Master’s degrees in Urban Administration of Planning, Urban Development, and Infrastructure Planning and Development, according to Tempo.

“It has been a year since I went to IKN, and it turns out that it has developed rapidly,” Professor Yeom stated, lauding IKN’s developments.

OIKN has already signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Mulawarman University, and Bandung Institute of Technology.

The authority has also initiated international cooperation with Stanford-Doerr University and Northern Illinois University, the United States; the University of Turku, Finland; and Leiden-Erasmus-Delft Universities, the Netherlands, say Tempo.
