Twenty-One National Strategic Projects Completed

Speaking at the year-end press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (20/12/23,) Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation secretary, Novie Riyanto, announced that 21 of the 35-National Strategic Projects (PSN) in the transportation sector have successfully been completed since 2020, according to reporting from Antara News.

“Twenty-one projects have been completed, including the now-operational Yogyakarta International Airport and airports in Labuan Bajo, Lombok, Baubau, and Fakfak,” Riyanto, said on Wednesday, adding that the ministry had also finished six railway projects.

The railway projects include the Tebing Tinggi-Kuala Tanjung railway in North Sumatra; Makassar-Parepare Phase 1 in South Sulawesi; the Palembang LRT in South Sumatra; the Greater Jakarta LRT; the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train, and the Yogyakarta Airport Railway, say Antara News.

Ten port projects have been completed: the Malay Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Port in East Kalimantan; the Labuan Bajo Multipurpose Terminal; the Bitung International Hub Port, Kupang Port, Kuala Tanjung International Hub Port, Kijing Terminal Port, Sanur Port, Patiman and Likpuang ports, and Makassar Newport.

“In total, there are 21 (finished projects) comprising five airports, six railways, and ten ports,” Riyanto said. Nine projects are targeted to be completed in the 2023 to 2024 period, including the Dhoho Airport in Kediri, East Java, which is planned and scheduled to become operational soon, report Antara News.

The Raja Haji Abdullah Airport in Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Islands, will also become operational in 2024.

Antara News say that after 2024, the Ministry of Transportation still has five projects to be finished, including the construction of the North-South and East-West lines of the Jakarta MRT.

“The MRT project will be massive after 2024,” Riyanto said.

According to Economic Ministerial Regulation No. 7 of 2021, there are 35-PSNs in the transportation sector, comprising seven in the air sector, thirteen in the railway sector, and fifteen in the port sector.
