According to an official release on the website of the President of The Republic of Indonesia, President Jokowi laid the first stone for the Nusantara Capital Airport (IKN) in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, on Wednesday (01/11/23), saying that the airport has a very important role for the IKN area.
“The presence of this airport is very important considering the increasing density of activities at IKN, the increasing mobility of people and goods to and from IKN,” said the President when delivering his remarks.
Apart from that, the presence of IKN Airport will also make the IKN area more open, with better connectivity and easier to reach from anywhere. The Head of State also believes that the presence of IKN Airport will increase IKN’s competitiveness.
“I am sure that this IKN Airport will increase IKN’s competitiveness , encourage economic growth, and encourage the development of potential in the region, and accelerate the IKN development that we are currently processing,” he explained.
On the same subject, Tempo are reporting that the VVIP Airport in IKN is one of ten projects set to begin this year. Head of the IKN Authority, Bambang Susantono, said the projects would be financed by both the state budget or APBN and the private sector.
“The projects include hospitals; shopping malls integrated with hotels and apartments; several government offices; an orangutan sanctuary island; and schools consisting of state and international schools,” Bambang said in a press statement today.
Tempo report that the estimated investment value of the projects reached IDR 12.5-trillion. Bambang said this was not only a sign of development growth but also of economic growth, saying that “this proves the high interest and trust of private investors and the government in IKN.”
