Prabowo Forms Financial Intelligence Agency Under Sri Mulyani

President Prabowo Subianto has formed the Financial Technology, Information, and Intelligence Agency under the auspices of Sri Mulyani and the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) according to reporting from Bloomberg. The change in the organizational structure within the State Treasurer was ratified through the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 158 of 2024 concerning the Ministry of Finance and signed by Prabowo on November 5, 2024.

The country’s financial intelligence agency was not included in the organizational structure of the previous Presidential Decree 57/2020, which means Finance Minister Sri Mulyani will have an additional echelon I to fill the institution’s position.

“The Financial Technology, Information, and Intelligence Agency is under and responsible to the Minister. The Financial Technology, Information, and Intelligence Agency is led by the Head,” reads article 52 paragraphs 1 and 2, quoted Thursday (7/11/24).

Bloomberg says that based on Article 53, the Financial Technology, Information and Intelligence Agency has the task of organizing the development and management of information and communication technology, as well as the management of data, information and financial intelligence.

In more detail, the Financial Technology, Information, and Intelligence Agency carries out the functions of; preparation of technical policies, plans, and programs for the development and management of information and communication technology, management of data, information, and financial intelligence, as well as digital transformation and change management.

Next, implementing the development and management of information and communication technology, data management, information, and financial intelligence, as well as digital transformation and change management.

“Implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on the implementation of the development and management of information and communication technology, management of data, information, and financial intelligence, as well as digital transformation and change management,” reads point c of article 54.

In addition, the Financial Intelligence Agency also carries out agency administration and carries out other functions assigned by the Minister of Finance.

In previous news, the Ministry of Finance explained that the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) would disappear from the organizational structure due to the addition of the Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy which was newly formed in the era of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. In the future, the BKF’s duties will merge into the Directorate General, according to Bloomberg.

Based on Presidential Decree Number 158 of 2024 concerning the Ministry of Finance, there are two new Directorates General, namely the Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy, and the Directorate General of Financial Sector Stability and Development.

“In the new structure, BKF will merge into the Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy,” said Head of the Bureau of Communication and Information Services of the Ministry of Finance, Deni Surjantoro, to the media crew, quoted on Thursday (7/11/24).

In addition, the Financial Sector Stability Committee (KSSK) was merged into the Directorate General of Financial Sector Stability and Development.

“The KSSK Secretariat still exists but is now under the Directorate General,” said Deni.
