Strategic Investments Presented at US-Indonesia Business Forum

According to reporting from Antara News, Bank Indonesia (BI) presented three strategic investment projects during the US-Indonesia Business Forum held in Washington, D.C., on Monday (26/8/24,) to mark the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations.

“The selection of these three projects was based on the results of the bank’s curation together with the Indonesia Investment Promotion Center (IIPC) in New York to be offered to investors in the US based on their interests in those projects,” BI’s deputy governor, Filianingsih Hendarta, said on Wednesday (28/8/24.)

Antara News says that the projects include the Geothermal Power Plant Project at Candi Umbul Telomoyo, Central Java, which utilizes geothermal energy as an alternative energy source, and the Copper Processing Industry in East Java, which supports the downstream industry policy to increase the added value of copper in Indonesia.

In addition, there is a project of the Aceh Industrial Area (KIA) Ladong, which is targeted to become a center for the halal industry in Aceh, with a focus on food, beverage, and other related products.

At the forum, Filianingsih highlighted five reasons to invest in Indonesia, including strong economic growth with positive prospects and stable macroeconomic fundamentals, reports Antara News, adding that the other positive aspects included the Indonesian government’s firm commitment to structural reforms to create a conducive investment climate, as well as the acceleration of economic and financial digitalization and the development of an inclusive and sustainable economy.

These efforts demonstrate BI’s commitment to supporting joint efforts by related ministries and institutions to attract foreign capital flows through investment in the real sector, say Antara News.

Such commitment is carried out through synergy with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Ministry of Investment, the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D.C., and the US-ASEAN Business Council in organizing the business forum.

According to Antara News, the forum is expected to intensify cooperation to increase US investment in Indonesia, emphasizing the strong diplomatic relations between the two countries that have existed for 75 years, especially after the two countries agreed to upgrade ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).
