According to reporting from Jakarta Globe, Indonesia’s Manpower Ministry will host a job fair from August 23 to 25 at JIEXPO Kemayoran in Jakarta. Called Naker Fest 2024, the job fair will feature 110,000 job vacancies from 110 companies, including 15 international firms.
Chairul Fadhly Harahap, Head of the Public Relations Bureau at the ministry, said that the job fair aims to connect job seekers with potential employers directly. “We hope many job seekers will learn about career opportunities from the 110,000 job vacancies available at this job fair,” Chairul said on Monday (19/8/24.)
The job fair will provide a platform for job seekers to interact with company representatives, ask questions, and even apply for positions and participate in on-site recruitment processes, says Jakarta Globe, adding that the ministry will offer services through the Labor Market Information System (SIAPkerja), including Skillhub. This platform will help visitors find training services for upskilling and reskilling to enhance their competencies.
“These services are provided to improve the skills of Indonesia’s workforce to meet the requirements of various sectors, including industry,” Chairul added.
During the recent State of the Nation Address, President Jokowi announced the government’s goal to reduce the open unemployment rate to 4.5 to 5 percent by 2025, down from the current 4.8 percent, and to lower the poverty rate to 7 to 8 percent from the current 9.03 percent.
