West Java Hoping to Boost Tourism with Cycling Event

Antara News is reporting that the West Java provincial government will hold the long-distance cycling tournament Cycling de Jabar – West Java on May 25, 2024, to boost tourism in the province.

Cyclists taking part in the tournament will cover 213-kilometers from Cirebon to Pangandaran on the southern coast of Java, West Java acting governor Bey Machmudin said on Thursday (14/3/24.)

Machmudin said that the sports event is also expected to stimulate passenger movement at West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati, Majalengka, which the government is trying to optimize, says Antara News.

“The hope is there will be an expo about Kertajati (airport). I support it because the route is from Cirebon, Kuningan, Majalengka, Ciamis, Banjar, and to Pangandaran,” he added.

The theme of the tournament, “Sumanget Jawara,” is not only expected to motivate cyclists, but also positively contribute to the economic and tourism sectors in the future.

“The 2024 Cycling de Jabar activity is being held to strengthen synergy between sectors as one ecosystem and a driver of accelerating West Java regional development,” he said.

Machmudin said that his administration has prepared all infrastructural needs to support the tournament to boost tourism in the eastern region, adding that “The Health Office is also ready to help with the health facilities. The point is that the (West Java provincial government) will fully support this event,” report Antara News.

He also asked the event participants to not force themselves if tired and to take enough rest before the race.

“In addition,” he said, “this event and other bicycle events are expected to be able to find talented bicycle racers who will become legends from West Java and Indonesia,” says Antara News.
