Indonesia AirAsia Launches Bali-Bandar Lampung Route

According to reporting from Tempo, Indonesia AirAsia is opening a new Denpasar, Bali-Bandar Lampung route, with the first flight scheduled for January 17, 2024.

Indonesia AirAsia president director Veranita Yosephine Sinaga said that the new route adds to the company’s list of domestic routes from and to Bandar Lampung as they previously opened the Jakarta-Bandar Lampung route in April 2023, say Tempo.

“Indonesia AirAsia hopes that the opening of the new route would help the government increase the number of domestic or foreign tourists who wish to visit Lampung,” said Veranita in a written statement on Saturday (6/1/24.)

The Bali-Bandar Lampung route, Veranita went on, would ease domestic and foreign tourists to take connecting flights from Denpasar or Jakarta to Bandar Lampung, such as visitors from Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, and vice versa.

“This can also be one of the factors that would affect the tourism and economy sectors in Lampung,” she said.

Tempo report that the addition of the second route to Bandar Lampung is a strong commitment of Indonesia AirAsia to expanding its service, providing international connectivity to superior destinations, and providing easy access for passengers. “Especially by the availability of connecting flights from the main gates, namely Jakarta and Denpasar,” said Veranita.

She added that this step also offers alternative flights at a more affordable price, besides opening doors to other destinations.

Based on data from Statistic Indonesia or BPS, from January to November 2023, the number of tourists visiting Lampung reached 12,216,420, say Tempo, which exceeded the target set by the Lampung Administration in 2023, of 5,490,000 travelers.
