High-Speed Train Boosts Tourism to Bandung

According to reporting from Tempo, the Management of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (PT KCIC)has stated that the Whoosh high-speed train has had a positive impact on tourism in Bandung and its surrounding areas, adding that through a collaboration with various tourist destinations in Greater Bandung, an upward trend of visitors in this area was recorded.

General Manager and Corporate Secretary of PT KCIC Eva Chairunisa stressed that this was one of the purposes of the Whoosh high-speed train. “Whoosh was designed not only as a mode of transportation but as one of the driving factors of the economy,” she said in a written statement quoted on Monday, (27/11/23.)

Through these collaborations, Eva said, PT KCIC strives to provide additional value and improve its services to all passengers as well as boost the local economy.

For now, there are six tourist destinations cooperating with Whoosh high-speed train in the form of free shuttles or free entrance tickets for Whoosh passengers including Bamboo Village, Farmhouse, Floating Market, The Great Asia-Africa, Tepi Danau, and Tepi Kota Healing, say Tempo.

After a month of operation, Eva reported increased visitors to these destinations. For example, in Bamboo Village, there has been an increase in visitors amounting to around 4,500-people. A similar situation also happened to the other five destinations.

The number of passengers utilizing this promo also experienced an increase by five times from 2,000-passengers in October to 10,000 in November. “Many people deliberately use Whoosh on the weekends to take a holiday thanks to the promos [PT KCIC] offers,” Eva said. “We will expand the collaborations with tourist destinations to provide even more additional values [to Whoosh].”

Eva also said that to accommodate the high number of passengers, Whoosh will provide additional trips in December with 40-trips on weekdays and 48 on weekends. Until November 25, Whoosh has served 549,000-passengers with occupancy rates ranging from 80 to 90-percent on each trainset, report Tempo.

“We are grateful that Whoosh high-speed train is starting to become a chosen mode of transportation. This is one of our motivations to keep providing the best service for society,” she concluded.
