Hi Hugo,
May I ask who is your supplier contact of an 8x5 lumbung for 110,000 Rp? I'm wanting to maybe hire an outfit to build one for me too.

@ Hermit: "alang-alang roof starts to deteriorate quickly into a sort of powder, bubuk" the hotels linked in earlier posts in the thread would (presumably) have taken this into account, maybe they spray the alang alang or use some preservative.
I recall a BBC programme a few years back about a rethatching a cottage in the UK, the 1st time in 100 years - ok it is a different straw, but there should be a workaround.
