My Indonesian Girlfrend say...may be she can not buy land or hause in Bali coz she comes from Java. She needs to moove and registert in Bali first ?

I remembered a "case" of sometime ago.. So I called my Notary....
If people from Java want to buy Farmland, they need to be registered in Bali, so they need to have a place of residence here...
If they however buy a house in a Perumahan in Bali, they can stay registered in Java.... (I think this may mean in an area designated as residential)
Funny arrangement at first sight , but it may well be that the government wants to protect Bali from Java investors a bit.... similar as the "protection" from foreigners.....
If this arrangement is very effective I don't know :wink: People just need to arrange their KTP in Bali...
Anyway, your girlfriend is right !

I´m holder Jakarta KTP ... and last year I dídn´t have any problem to buy land and house in Bali. Maybe your girlfriend will buy "tanah adat"?

It may well be that for different areas / types of land there are different regulations.
It also may be that some notaries may not be aware of some regulations.
I will try to get some more details soon.
