what a sad story, makes me question what I am doing having a baby here!!!!! but the alternative is to go back to Australia for 10 weeks and leave my teenager here to attend school - it is a real hard decision. Plus I have given up our australian private health and I will not attend a government hospital in australia - I have heard lots of nightmares coming out of joondalup hospital!!!!!!
decisions decisions, I am back in perth on saturday and have a appointment with my OB, i intend to ask him if he would like an all expenses paid holiday to bali LOL!!!
The question of new born insurance is a good one, thanks spicy I will check it out.
There are sad stories about giving birth in Australia & Indonesia, A friend had her baby in Surabaya, it was 5star, as good as any in Australia. Depends on your doctor & if the baby just pops out![]()
I guess sometimes behind of diferent people there is diferent stories.
In my case in 2005 I was planning to give birth in the Foundation Bumi Sehat in Ubud (I did the control there for 6 months), what finally it was a totally totally wrong decision.....
If you have not problems I guess almost every place could be good, after all giving birth is a natural thing but if you have some problems people and places may not be as good as you thought.

Hello
Just wondering how the birth went and if you stuck with Puri Bunda or did you fly back to Australia?
yes hope everything was ok.
hospitals in perth are getting quite bad anyway the ammount of people i know who have come out with golden staph... private hospitals at that.
don't know what the answer is.
We had our son at Puri Bunda a few weeks back and have nothing but positive things to say about them. My wife had a cesarian, her scar is hardly noticeable and she was able to walk out of the hospital 2 days later. My friends wife who had her cesarian in Singapore last year couldn't walk for a week after having hers and even though her baby was 1 kg lighter than ours her scar is a lot longer.
I'd also like to hear from anyone with good or bad birth experiences. I'm moving to Bali from the UK in July and will be due in November. I'm new to the island so don't know which hospitals are particularly recommended for maternity care and which to avoid.
Can anyone tell me for certain if you can have gas and air when in labour? I've had a home birth here with the help of plenty of gas and air. I really don't want an epidural or the pethidine injection.
Has anyone got a great OB/GYN they can recommend? How much roughly does it cost? I know there is some old discussion on here re costs but it's an old thread...
Which hospitals are best for maternity care? Does anyone have any experience of Kasih Ibu? We will be living in Sanur.
Any advice is much appreciated!
