Hi,
i dont actually need help having a child but i do have a super important question for one of you in the know folks out there.
My wife and i are visiting Bali on a tourist visa (6 months) and want to have the baby in bali. The only probelm i seem to have found with that so far is getting the indonesian authorities to issue a birth certificate for the new child AND then a subsequent visa for it when we get the passport from the british consulate.
Does any one know if this is possible, and if its very expensive.
Please help !
Many thanks
Ben
Ben I take it that both you and your wife are UK citizens? If so, then I would suggest your first priority when you arrive in Bali is to call the British Consulate office in Denpasar and arrange to meet with the Consul who can fill you in on the details and requirements regarding your to be born child’s birth certificate, British passport and any Indonesian visa requirements. You may also consider sending the Consul office an e-mail with your questions. Always best to get this kind of information direct from the "horse's mouth" so to speak. Good luck with the birth of your child and enjoy your six months on Bali.
You can rest assured that you won’t be the first British couple to have a child on Bali, and likely not the last either.
I trust you already have the contact details for the British Consulate in Denpasar, but just in case:

6 months tourist visa? Not aware this is possible. Maximum I am aware of is 60 days although this may change soon. Strongly suggest you check on this.
Three of my children were born in Indonesia and I had no problems registering them with the British Embassy.
