Hi All,
Any members here with kids going to Green School?
Thanks
Sorry that I'm not that guy (no kids that age anymore - thank the stars!) but just some impressions that I got of the school when we did look at it a couple of years ago.
Great idea and very idealistic - the whole thing is built up from the basis of sustainability (hence the name) and trying to instil these values and care for the environment in general in the students and their parents.
I was a little concerned that these values seemed to be paramount and that the simple art of schooling and learning the 3 Rs kind of took a back seat. Nothing wrong with pushing green concepts but not, I think, at the cost of English or Maths. They did seem to have a problem keeping staff - might have been because they wanted them to live in buggy bamboo lean-tos. I believe they said they used the London/Cambridge syllabus but with classes half western from everywhere (Dutch, German, US, Chinese, Balinese, etc.) and the rest from everywhere else - English was not spoken so much as signalled.
In the end if you send your kids there for a year then no harm done and it will be a great experience for them but if you want a permanent solution to schooling for your kids in Bali - keep looking or start with the Dole applications now.
