Getting Indo Birth Certificate For Mixed Baby
We had our baby recently but are having a difficult time as expected with the local governments getting the birth certificate. As my wife is Balinese but married me, she "left" her village and has no support from that government even though we are very close to her family. We don't live in the village obviously, but they're saying that we can't get the certificate there, even though, that is where her KTP is from. Any hints or ideas? A good place to get it done quickly in Legian?

Just in case you are serious the birth certificate in the first instance would come from the Roomah Sakit Bersalihn (Maternity Hospital) or the attending doctor. I think after that you have to register with the Kantor Cipil.
Being of different nationalities has no bearing on the issueing even if you are not married.

As per Jimbo said, you need to get a first birth certificate from the RS where the baby born, then bring it to the Catatan Sipil which will deliver you a Akte Kelahiran. You have 60 days to do so from the date of birth. As soon as you get the Akte Kelahiran, you need to register the birth at the Kantor Imigrasi. This procedure is still mandatory even if the baby is automatically recognised as Indonesian as per law 12 year 2006.
Akte Kelahiran should cost anything around 50K rupiah since the kid is Indonesian, even if his father is foreigner.
Registering in Kantor Imigrasi is free.
For kids, born before Aug 1st 2006, who went through the process of dual citizenship, you need to register their change of citizenship to the CaPil also. If they born in Indonesia (and therefore have an akte kelahiran stating that they are foreigners), you need to ask a procedure of "Pencabutan dan Kutipan kedua". In clear, ask to nullify their first birth certificate and have a brand new one stating that they are Indonesian (excatly the same that the kids who would born from maried mixed couples now).
Procedure should cost around 150K rupiah.
