want to add one more thing I dislike here:
barking dogs (I'm at that point after 7 years that if a neighbor or stray dog barking for 30 minutes and than shut up I'm happy); today a neighbor dog was barking from 5 AM till 3 PM without breathing (and it's a big dog) so I went there to ask them FRIENDLY to shut him up and I saw they chained him at a very short leash and the whole big family sitting five meter away and calmly chatting, I will NEVER understand these balinese...
I don't think anybody will. Maybe not even themselves. It might even explain the blank looks one receives all too often.
Glad you liked and agreed with the list. Obviously you noted it was deliberately meant to be sarcastic - frighteningly some of the problems are that endemically deep seated that they are more like 'customs' and we just laugh them off as a bad joke. Still, for now at least, the good outweighs the bad and that is why we love the place. Hope you got a smile out of it at least ;)

i grown up with a Balinese family and i still dnt understand them and know im been pretty much taken in by my gf balinese family and stil dnt under stand them, but no matter what there just some thing about the balinese you can just never hate them. there a reason mum only hire balinese in the shop. he wants did a test for a month she put a shift full on non balinese and a shift of only balinese and no mater if the shift was morning or afternoon the Balinese would get more sale than the non balinese just something about them.
dont' think about the past, don't focus on the future because your are missing the persent. http://www.lokalliving.com
My wife is a Balinese even from a Kesatria family, so I have to go every year many times to the temples & ceremonies & weddings & birth parties & six months parties etc.
They really like it without a doubt, some of them are very nice people, some aren't. Same with every population, every country in the world; there are good and bad, everywhere period.
Some days ago somebody stole a motorbike in front of my house, the balinese crowd blamed...of course somebody from Java or Lombok. In Java they do the same thing, the blame other people from other islands. This would not happen in Europe & Nort America as we all know the evil COULD living just next of you (and often does unfortunately)
These balinese people I mentioned above were smiling for years but once I saw them furious i was amazed! It looks like they swallow all these anger for years...
And another thing: Balinese men don't respect women, a balinese / indonesian woman in a nice (maybe expensive) car driving is for most of the (undeducated) balinese men a prostitute; cause how should she be able to earn the money to buy the car without the help of her ******??? It's a shame. I worked together with balinese architects, nice people, but with them the same result, if a woman talking they sometime listen respectfully than they smile at each other and "let's do it our way, she better take care of her children" crap starts. It's a shame!
sakumabali,
Wow! Very honest post, thank you!
Fight apathy! Or don't.
