The music was a bit scary - I kept expecting Freddy to jump out and ax murder everybody.
Ron that's a problem of our age - much "modern" or "cutting edge" film making now days seems to be like that - can't stand it myself. I think it has to do with the fact that they (film makers) think we all have the attention span of humming birds.

I like the music, Markit, I think it's very soothing.
I must be one of those with "the attention span of humming bird", because I thought the video was too long. I agree with ronb, I would like to have seen more of each particular segment.
No Matsaleh, that's what I mean too - humming birds flit from flower to flower very quickly and that seems to be what modern film makers think the public wants - I am totally in agreement with you I could always use longer shots with less hectic flitting about.
If you thought the music was calming then you have been watching way too many slasher films![]()
From a pure marketing perspective the vid is good apart from the audio which I agree is a little un-nerving.

My Oh my...
How serene, beautiful and clean it all looks. No hawkers, no traffic jams, no garbage anywhere, no stress, no handphones, no dogs, no shopping malls, no mini-markets, and all the rest. (Thankfully, no Julia Roberts, too - only a wannabee.)
What a lot of pretty bullshit.
The sort of Bali portrayed here did exist at one time, sort of. Maybe the one I fell in love with back in the early 1970s. Much of Bali has changed dramatically since those times, often for the worse (IMHO).
Bali was never a "paradise" for the Balinese (maybe for the "original" Balinese). Bali back in the 19th century was like a war-zone, with competing regencies fighting each other for control. Historical grudges still exist to this day.
Bali as "Paradise" was invented by tourism businesses and the Indonesian government in the middle 1960s. Before that, (back in the 1930s), a handful of western artists, musicians and assorted other dilletantes, made their own impact.
Bali is more fragile than ever with the continuing, un-sustainable demands being thrust upon it. Videos like this don't help anybody - least of all the Balinese.
Very nice video. Looks like the Bali I know.
I think nothing shows the meaning of the word "paradise" better than this thread. Paradise, like most things is a relative term, as it says in my signature "Flies think..."
Problem is Johnny you seem to have reversed it and think that Paradise is Shit....? I cant help feeling that you oughta get out of your hole there in Kuta more often - come up to the east of the island and you may just find that Bali that you lost back in the 70s.
Of course you might just have to find the Johnny Cool that you were back then too - that may be just a little more difficult....?
I don't live in Kuta. I'm not that stupid.
I am very familiar with the east part of Bali. Have been there thousands of times - first time in 1973 when Candi Dasa, for example, still had a swimmable "beach".
If you keep up with news reports, you'll find that even Bali's Governor has misgivings about the way things are going these days. At least he doesn't seem to have blinkers on (unlike Jero Wacik, the Indonesian Minister for Tourism).
As I've tried to say, Bali's "integrity" is really under threat. My own love-affair with this island has been a fairly long and deep one. I don't like the place being generally portrayed as something that it's not. Sure - there are still wonderful, relatively un-tainted areas. However, ruthless over-development needs to be curbed...the sooner, the better (if it's not already too late).

Apologies, I did think you were one of the famous Kuta Kowboys - but you do hale from close by or?
Please don't quote politicians as a source of equal concern - they are all hammers looking for nails and in some cases wood selling both, not to brutalize a metaphor too much
I admit to only being her for about 3 years now (don't time fly when you're having fun?!) But I'm beginning to believe that your sour grapes is a secret attempt to put any tourists off coming to the island?
I may be slow but I do get there in the end Johnny.
I promise I won't tell anyone else, OK?
