Hi Bruce

Just wondering if your son has had his operation yet & how everything went?

My mum had her operation last week and is slowly getting over it. I have not been able to get on the internet much as all my free time is spent at the hospital.

Let me know how your son got on.

Hi Mimpi,

Good to hear that things went ok with your mother. I'm off to Bangkok today for an international teaching conference. It's the first time I've been out of the Sumbawa/Lombok area since last July. Once I get back, my wife, son and smallest daughter fly to Denpasar for the operation which is scheduled for April 2nd. Thanks for the positive thoughts. Sam is already getting a bit concerned about it, but is also interested in getting to see all the metal that's been in his arm for the past 7 months.

Just as a side point, our house is going along well in Sekongkang and we are in the process of negotiating for some beach property down the road from our house. My wife wants to build a few small bungalows for surfers as there are no good, cheap accomodations here for people.

When do you get back to Lombok?

Cheers,

Bruce

Talking of metal, mum got to keep the metal hip that they took out of her!

My cousin is a physio and said they make great door knockers, so I think I might take it over to Lombok & stick it on the door

I was due to go back to Lombok 1st June for 4 months but as my UK contract may come to an end June 30th I may hang on til then and then stay 6 months in Lombok. Just waiting to see what comes about at work.

I'll be thinking of your son. Wish him good luck from me. :D

Hi Mimpi,

Sam had his operation on the 2nd and the results were great from what I hear from his mother. Sam is bored and due to be released today without the three pins in his arm. The surf and water is great here in Sumbawa and we're waiting for Sam to get back to swimming again.

Only another three months for you then. How is tourism generally in the Kuta area?

Regards,

Bruce

Hi Bruce
Glad to hear your son's operation went well & he will soon be home.
Tell me, could he swim with the metal in his arm, or did it weigh him down?

Tourism in Kuta has been quiet in recent years but slowly picking up. I am not sure how it is at the moment. We tend to be even more quiet in the rainy season. You may have seen from another post, that I have now booked & go back 5th July. I will stay a minimum of 6 months. If I can stretch the money & we are getting any sort of reasonable income from the businesses I may be aable to hop over to Singapore for a new visa instead. Fingers crossed.

Maybe we can meet up on one of your shopping trips, thats if you are not going to be going to Bali, only in future.

Hi Mimpi,

The rest of the family returned the other day. Sam's no longer the bionic man. It's amazing how small the pins and plates actually were - they looked much larger in the x-rays.

All sorts of rumors over here about new hotels being built in the near future. We were outbid on some beach property and land prices here are starting to soar. Interesting stuff. Still not many tourists however. I'm glad that I have a job.

Would love to see what Kuta is like in Lombok. We'll try to drop by during the vacation and visit.

Regards,

Bruce

Hi Bruce

I will be back there in another 10 weeks so if you are going to be dropping by it would be nice if you could hold off that long...... but I know the pull of Kuta is strong

If you are around in September we are having a Lombok Lovers's get together on the 28th. http://groups.msn.com/LombokLovers/general.msnw?action=get_message&mview=0&ID_Message=1814&LastModified=4675469263022993434 Click here for more information.

It will be nice to meet you sometime
