Hi - I heard there is some special kind of Card? or something you can get to have cheap phone rate to North America - (Canada in my case.) Anyone know about this?
Don't know about special phone card but if you're using a Simpati card, substitute the "+" with 01017 then the country code, telephone no when dialling. For XL cards substitute the "+" with 01010 before the country code, etc.
Charges are about Rp1000 per minute, instead of Rp7000 per minute. The only downside: there's a short delay when talking because the calls are routed via VOIP.
I just got an AXIS SIM card, cost rp10k.
With Axis you can call the US for rp99/minute. Yup, that's right, rp99. Cheaper than you can call around here!
You just dial the proper prefix.
I've been super happy with Axis (haha no I don't work for them) and their coverage, etc.
Best of all their website is actually in English, unlike every other operator in Indo, so check more info on the international calling here
I can't attach the link in here, but just google "axis indonesia international calls" and you should be able to figure it out.
Cheers,
Ryan
Well I tried using the AXIS VOIP to call home for mother's day
I could hear my mom just fine, but she had a hard time understanding me, in fact, basically said, "we can't talk like this."
Has anyone used AXIS and had good luck? I'll have to try again, but three times now it's been poor to unusable. how this can be is somewhat mind boggling....
I used "3" last year to call home a few times and the parents were big fans of the quality. VOIP prices are comparable.
