Hi, we will arrive in ubud in a few weeks and need a hotel to use as a base while we look for a house. Any suggestions for something reasonable with high speed internet? I know there are a ton of places, but we want to have somewhere to go after 36 hours of travel and know that we can hook up and work. Thanks!

The possibilities are endless- depends on your budget? internet is usually at cafe's or you can check the search feature on the forums for post about wireless service, I think I read that they now have a new service for wireless? Have fun, And tell the guys at Nuries I said Hi,, Frog

How many people will be accompaning you to Ubud?? I can suggest a number of places to you; however, what price range are you looking at?? And how many people???

Thanks guys. Under a hundred dollars a night for sure - just 3 of us, but our son is little and doesn't take up much space yet. We do need wireless in our room in order to be able to work. Thanks! Will be sure to pass along your greetings Froggy!

I'm not that familiar with Ubud so I can't recommend a specific place but you could rent a reasonable quality two storey villa in Seminyak with full kitchen and internet not far from the beach for @ $US30/night. For US$100/night you should have no trouble finding something..

The internet might be the sticking point. Fast ADSL and 3.5g internet access are only just becoming available in Ubud so it's unlikely that you will find a rental place with it already installed. You might find somewhere with dial-up access or a shared radio connection but other than that you are probably going to have to use an internet cafe.
