I dont know.... I think they gave me a speed limit to use for the first X kms but I really cant remember what it was and probably didnt stick to it!

Incidently the cost for extending the paper on the Xenia was Rp1,163,000.

Hmm.. yup, that's the normal practice. Someone also told me it's a bad idea to take passangers on the bike the first X km. Well I don't got much choice, I'll be tugging around with my missus from day 1. That's pretty much the point with it (so I can take her to do all the "important shopping" of course). I figured I will be going slowly so it should be ok... I hope! Also she's not that heavy. Unless grandmother has put her on a feed!

    Kind regards.

Donfuego...don't worry about "breaking in" a engine of a new bike...it's under warranty so I would (and have done) go to the max RPM in every gear(not with the missus on the back), when the engine is warmed up ofcourse. If something is not good with the engine, it's better to find out while it still is under warranty. At least thats the way I see it. Have checked with both Yamaha and Honda here in Singaraja for service prices, either way is pretty cheap and not something to have a preference for either the yamaha bike or the honda bike. The little service that needs to be done, like the periodical oil-change is very easy to do yourself on both bike's. Changing a rear or front tire is also very easy...if it's worn down, just buy the new tire and go to the closest bengkel (garage) near you..price for changing the tire will be around 20 to 25.000 rupiah.
Also don't worry about taking a passenger the first couple of km, since you don't have a choice  , just joking donfuego, new bike can handle it easily.
So donfuego...you already made up your mind as to what bike to buy?

mimpimanis....alright you got everything done, the license and the xtension of the carpapers. I had to extend my papers too, found out I was already too late hahaha, I was out 1.9 juta including new plates for the car (Taruna).

    Friendly greetings..........Gilbert.
don't read between the lines..i think the words are clear enough...:)

Thank you so much for your help and advice Gilbert (and others). Good to know that I don't need to worry about the engine. And serivce prices look fair too. I'm fairly technically oriented so oil change and minor maintenance I will do myself.

I still haven't decided what bike to buy. Most people seem to lean towards the Honda but not many people seem to know much about the Yamaha so I feel their oppinion might be biased. I still haven't looked into the Suzuki. I guess I will wait until I have tried the different bikes to see which one suits me better. Also I will probably have to buy in East Java if I can find a good price there since I will not arrive in Bali until July.

    Kind regards

    Hi donfuego,

I bought a Honda Tiger (200cc, I believe, or was it 250cc?) in 1998, for Rp9.5J (US$950). I just sold it 2 weeks ago for RP5J (US$500)! It looks very much like the Megapro you are considering. I drove it for about 62,000 kms + during these 11 years. I had chosen Honda because of its rugged reputation, and I was not disappointed. Upkeep and repairs were ridiculously cheap. The Honda service I used was a place accross Bj Kalah, Teges, which provided excellent service: I would drive in with a request for a repair or adjutment and, bingo, had always immediate service.

The only relatively expensive repair was some of the plastic trims which were stolen off the motorcycle while parked at night in some Ubud street, and which I had to replace.
