What did you pay for what and where, what does is actually cost to live here? A cheap house? A luxury Villa? A second hand car? Post questions or tell us what you spend.

Surgery on haze-lip and split palate

Postby Tsallie on Wed Apr 09, 2008 9:40 pm

Our local friends in Bali just got a son. Unfortunately the kid has a haze-lip (harelip) and a split palate and will need surgery. We are considering to help them, but have no idea of the costs. Can anyone of you give us a clou?

Welcome to the forum. It’s great that you want to help this family out. Personally, I applaud you for your kindness and generosity.

One place to start is this excellent foundation, Yayasan Senyum.

If I were you, I would get in contact with them, explain the details, including your willingness to help, and go from there.

Hi and welcom to the forum Tsallie,

I know that Rotary had supported several times these kind of operations.

There is a story which should be an interesting read for you, please check Kadek's story on Helen's website.

Come to think of it...thanks for the reminder Thorsten...Helen will be staying with us for a night or two next week. Tsallie, if you send me a PM with your e-mail address, I'll pass it on to Helen for you in the hopes that she may also be able to help out.

Good idea Thorsten! Cheers

Hi all!
It's been some time since I started this thread. Time for an update. And it's good news! It took some searching and mailing, but last September the kid had its first operation at the John Fawcett Foundation. Somewhere in March next year a second onde will follow. Hopefully this will help the kid to have a normal life.
Thank you all for the tips and support. Special thanks to Roy for using his contacts and making that phobe call :D
If there is more news I'll keep you posted.

Cheers
Carel
