Default Rp1,000 for a cup (glass) of coffee

When driving I often look for a coffee stop at a road-side warung. The ABC brand has helped this search process by painting some of the warungs bright yellow and adding ABC banners and displays. Sometimes they charge Rp2,000 for a coffee - but some charge only Rp1,000 - and I am always a bit surprised. When you buy the ABC sachets in the supermarket they are Rp600 or Rp800 each - so Rp1,000 is a slim margin.

Recent places where I have got Rp1,000 include
    * a warung on the main-road in Banjar (the village with the hot springs in N Bali)
    * a warung in kampung Bugis in Singaraja - a short walk west from where there are 4 restaurants over the water
    * a warung at the top of the hill in Bedugul just before you start the descent to Singaraja

What other low prices do you get that are simply amazing?

Ronb, I have to say that I have been always very very shock about how little profits warungs gets, beside there is warungs every every where, hahaha there is some streets that it seems like all the neigbourghs has a warung next to the front door of the houses!!!
Hahaha sometimes I wonder if it is part of the balinese compound!!! or have something to do, more than having a really profitable business!!
I used to live in a tempat kost where meme (nenek) had a small warung, she sells bubur every morning for 1.000 Rp!!!!!!!! a full plate of rice with sayur on the top!!! hahaha I think probably nobody around the warung cooked in the morning for breakfast and everybody used to bring their own plates and take the bubur to their houses!!! sometimes it was hard for me to believe she could make profits and get extra money apart from the money to spend early morning at the market to make the bubur again next day!!!
Two weeks ago I was in Batubulan and I stopped to have a bali kopi and I bought a nanas (pinneaple) and she asked for 2.000 Rp for one nanas, I was surprise about the price because in Ubud we use to pay 3.000 or 3.500 Rp for one, so I ask her how much she buy the nanas and she told me that she pay 1.500 Rp per one nanas, so she gets only 500 rp profits and she has to go to Sukawati market to buy them!!!!

People at the markets make very little profit on anything. My in-laws make Cincau and Bijik for people to sell at the markets in Singaraja, A bag of Bijik and Cincau go for 700rp each and are sold for 1000rp each. 300rp profit may not sound much but when you're selling 200-300 a day you're making 60-90,000 profit, thats a lot more than what your average worker gets here. On top of that they also sell other products.

A new warung has opened on our road in Sanur and they sell a large Bintang for 20000 IDR. I was really surprised as they sell it in Hardys for 21000 which was the cheapest I had seen anywhere at all.

I buy for 16,000IDR in Singaraja [Large Bintang] from a warung that backs on to the market. You pay a deposit on the bottles and crate.

Yes, I presume so. I have only bought by the crate. [+ deposit for the bottles and crate].

That's cheap. Do you know the name of this place or can they deliver?
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat drinking beer all day.

The name is Sri rejeki, tel [0362] 21602. On the main road in Singaraja that backs onto the big covered market. Not far from the left turn half way along the one way street. The price 16 point something, 265,000 for 16 large bintang plus 52,000 deposit. I dare say it could be bought cheaper as this was the first place I asked and did not try to bargain. No idea about delivery. I have seen shops with larger stocks of bintang in the area, but not checked them out yet. Have heard people say they buy for 15,000 elsewhere but have not got any address or confirmation.
