    Default permanent driver-how much???

Hi! I am trying to decide what to do - we arrive in bali end jan. to hire a car and include insurance 1.8 juta per month. but it appears a driver costs about the same??? do they use their own car or yours???

with my daughter school bus fare and hire car it might be same to have a driver permanently - Am I reading and understanding the price of drivers correctly??
The schoool bus fees are a bit pricey - designed for expats no doubt lol!!!

    thanks

I am also trying to workout how to do this! And apparently not many children catch the bus especially teenager's. Have you worked out what school you will attending?

you could try and ask where you got the price for 1,8jt to hire a car, if they also provide cars with drivers.
most teenagers will prefer to hop on a bike, or hitch a ride on the back of a friends bike.
the younger teens (SMP) will take a BEMO to and from school.
Ofcourse there are also children that get picked up by either the parents or a older brother/sister but again with a bike.
mostly the int.schools alot of parents blocking the road, double/triple parking to pick up their kid ;)
don't read between the lines..i think the words are clear enough...:)

the thought of my airy fairy teenager(god bless her) on the back or front of a motor bike fills me with dread!! Plus I think her dad would kill me!!! I dont want to be another mum blocking the road!!

It really is a matter of insurance. If you rent a car without a driver and then have to hire a driver a million a month would be fine but then that driver has to be accepted for insurance by the cars owner.

All very complicated. Better to hire a car with driver....or use taxi's

thanks Jimbo, taxi too expensive for long term. the car I can hire includes insurance also, I think I will have to do the driving for a while and than find a driver when we are there. Thanks for the reply.

Just make sure you have a driving licence. You need a KITAS visa to get one.

And there is also the option of getting an International Driver's License before you come to Bali.
