Default Which part to go to live in Bali

    Dear balipod members,

I fell in love two years ago with Bali island when on vacation with my girlfriend, so the end of next month we would like to repeat the experience for two month.

Last time we were staying at a hotel, but this time we would like a small villa or apartment, as close as possible to the beach.

I would like to know your experience, like which part of the island is cheaper to live, our budget for rent is around 700USD/ month.

First two weeks we will go to this hotel: Jalan Pengubengan Kauh No. 15, Kerobokan Kelod (Off The Jail Road Kerobokan) They made us an offer for IDR3,360.000 for the whole stay.

^is this a decent place meanwhile we can find an apartment?

Thank You in advance for your comments and suggestions
    Arch.

Well your first location barely qualifies being
as close as possible to the beach
since it's probably over 2 Km.

In North Bali you will find beach front villas are more affordable than the south - but of course there is no surf, and the sand is often grey-black of volcanic origin.

Thanks Ron, 2km is not that bad

I guess I will have a look when arrive, if price range is not too big I will choose south..

I have some other questions too:

How about renting a car with driver for a day?

Which mobile company to choose for 3G internet?

Car and driver for a day - maybe Rp400,000 or 450,000. Depends how big and how new the car is.

3G Internet: I have been using Telkomsel and overall I am happy, but there are some glitches even when a strong 3G signal is available. And 3G coverage is patchy. Currently I have been staying around Ubud, and there are plenty of places with good 3G cover, but there are some areas that are not 3G. Then you get an EDGE connection (2.5g?) which is slow but better than nothing.

Default rent help to the rescue!!!!

Hello, I have decided to rent my house out, so if you are interested you can email me. The house in 10 min drive from Sanur, nice white beaches, many many restaurants. My house is in ketwell, a local village, no tourists. Very quite and peaceful. The house has ocean views and is plenty big enough for two people. It has several rooms, large garden, two story, two sweeping balconys overlooking sea... local supermarket two mins away, five or so restaurants five mins walk away. I want to do this quickly you are the first I am telling! so my offer is 8 million for the whole house (which is about 900 US $) for the entire duration of ... May 1st to end of July.... maybe until first week of august.... so 900 US for ALL of MAY, JUNE, JULY and maybe one week in august. AMAZING deal, like I said want a quick rent. hope this helps. :-) be quick as I am telling everyone today.
ps I can help with getting you a car and driver too, laundry and cleaner. All at local prices. If you still need the help.

The modems you buy are not tied to a phone company. When you are buying the modem, if you ask they will be able to get you setup with Telkomsel Flash SIM card - it is a pre-paid with just Rp50,000 of credit. So it's a starter plan that get's you going until you decide which monthly plan you want to subscribe to. Then you add credit to the card and sign onto the chosen plan by sending SMS messages.
