Default Motorbikes less than 250 cc ?

    Hi!
I will be looking to buy a smaller bike in a couple of months from now. Now, I'd like something fairly comfy and reliable while still coping with the roads of Bali.

Thing is, the biggest bike I've driven so far was a rusty old, beat up Yamaha YT 115 cc while in Bali 10 years ago and while it provided all the speed I needed (and could handle) it wasn't very comfortable, nor reliable.

So I guess I'm looking for a bike in the similar size but of course newer and better. Any suggestions on what model and where they can be bought would be highly apreciated.

    Kind Regards.

pretty much any motorbike in Bali is around that amount of cc's. There are tons of motorcycle dealers all over the place, but you won't be able to finance as a foreigner, you will have to buy it upfront which will be about rp 8 million - 20 million depending on the bike that you want.

A Honda Vario or Beat, automatic gear, drives very smooth....

And if you are bored, you can modify it:

    And they keep their value...

I had one of those for a while.

Its nice and comfortable when driving to and from Denpasar from Singaraja..

But I was always scared to have to make a stop (or engine cut off) on a (steep) slope, it would almost certainly would mean a fall....

Sorry I should have been more clear in my description. I think what I want is more towards the "offroad" or "traditional" kind of bike with bigger wheels, suspension and manual gears, ie not a scooter.

@Anton: That looks more like a car with 2 wheels. Sure looks cozy though :)

Have a look at http://www.kawasaki-motor.co.id/price.htm, they have a offroad and a naked bike (ninja 150). Or perhaps a Suzuki Thunder might be just the thing you're looking for. There is a 125 and 250 version of the Thunder and I believe the 125 is not as pricy compared to the kawasaki's. http://www.suzuki.co.id/motors_product_thunder125.htm

    Hi donfuego,
In what area are you searching? and do you want to buy new or used?
btw, I dont think a offroad would be very comfortable...I mean, ussualy those kind of bike's have some annoying pitch to their exhaust, at least my ears can't stand it for a long time, hahaha.
Sanders suggestion the thunder 125 is a reasonable bike (price-wise), but almost everybody I know who has it, has troubles with the gearbox. Teeth of the discs get grinded down pretty quick.
For a little more money, a Yamaha Vixion would be a better choice, liquid cooled and no problems with gears :) .
Here's a pic of my 'small' bike, which I found thank's to bert.

    Hey hey, that's cheating that's a 400cc bandit ;-), I actually got a green zx6r mysself but I dont live in indonesia anymore :-(

Perhaps a Honda Thunder is also a possibility, 200cc 4 stroke engine, I believe Bert used to own one.
