Good afternoon from Sydney,
I currently run a business in Australia (for the past 11 years) and am looking at setting up a call centre in Bali. This call centre would be run by local and expat staff. Of particular interest to me would be travellers (UK/ Aus - native english speakers) as they will be calling/ emailing/ contacting customers Australia mainly for the first 12 months and then Asia in about 18 months.
I wanted to find out from those who have relevant knowledge:
1) What approx size expat working community is in Bali?
2)What are the local laws relating to hiring expat staff (Australia/ UK) residents?
3) What would the minimum wage be for such staff? How long could they work for legally?
4) How do businesses source expat staff? Is there a job board etc?
5) Are there high-speed/ very reliable internet and phone connections available?
6) What are recommended location areas for a call centre (approx 20 seats)?
7) What range of rent would I be expected to pay for office size of around 100-150 square metres?
If there are local respondents who have relevant experience/ knowledge/ contacts, there may be opportunity for partnership - capital not required.
I appreciate any responses + additional thoughts....
Thank you
BK
you cannot employ travelers/tourist, you would need to supply work visa that are expensive, you can only employ expats if a Indonesian person cannot do the job. Search the forum about starting a pma company & employing expats
Check you PM inbox
I sent a pm

Hey i just sent u a pm but im not sure if you can read it or reply as it says you need to have 10 posts to send a pm. So if you want to give me your email i can message you on there or else if you can read the pms i can send you my email . .
I think the hardest thing with your plan might be organizing working visas for your foreign staff. Many foreigners want to live in Bali, so I don't think you would have trouble finding staff, even if you only offered a low salary. You might find this blog post of interest: Finding work in Bali as an expat @ Bali Expat – living in Bali

Hi - would be good to have a chat - can you provide some contact details? Thank you - Bora

Thanks - we would be willing to pay sponsorship/ visa costs for the right people as we will be outsourcing our work to Bali. Even with the visa fees, the benefits of salary savings would make it viable.
