Like all visitors to Bali I continue to dream of running a business and living there in saying that by reading this great forum I've come to see it's not all roses and paradise in Bali.
So I plan no living in country before making any serious financal moves.
In saying that I was wondering what you guys the main bunch of expats that contribute to this site did to stay in the country for your first year.
I'm interested in what you did for visa's, accommodation and work.
When it comes to my business idea I'd like to buy or lease at first one of the many restaurants along Jimbaran beach, does anyone know someone thats doing the same thing.
Does anyone know if they are freehold or leased and what they may cost
Also what does a cooked lobster cost in the different parts of the Island at the moment...
regards
Paul
Hey Paul! Sorry that you got no answer sooner, but sometimes that's the way it is. You ask,
Trust me, the answers would be as various as GW Bush's answers to questions posed to him about Katrina, Iraq, or his sexual preferences. Seriously, the answer to your question would take more time than even the most kindly expat would be willing to give, unless except, over a martini.I was wondering what you guys the main bunch of expats that contribute to this site did to stay in the country for your first year.
Asking for advice, I'll give you some. Never rely on what others have, or not have done here in Bali. Come, and take a good and hard look around and make your own conclusions.
Jimbaran? Forget it. It's already "done" or soon will be. The only thing that can come into Bali and take on Jimbaran will be backed by many millions, and I'm not talking rupiah.
Other alternatives? Plenty. Lobsters? Are you kidding? OK, find a way to cheaply import Maine lobsters, and you may make a fortune. Those clawless faggots that parade here as lobsters here aren't sweet, are tough, and can only be made digestable after hours of work.
That's all the free advice you're getting tonight from me anyway.
