Question Cost of shipping to Bali (Shipping conatiner move)

Hi - I will have 1 x 20 foot shipping conatiner that we will bring from Australia to Bali (Hobart to Ubud area). Is this the chepest way? Is there a good company to use to arrange this? Expected cost?

    Conatents would include:
    TV and Stero stuff
    Personal items
    Bedding
    Tools
    some Furniture etc

    Thanks

probably the cheapest way is indeed sea-freight by container.
The company to arrange this, you would need to find that in/near hobart (homecountry), they can also provide you with an estimate of costs. They would use an partner for the business-end here on surabaya (customs-clearing) and the transport to Bali. Big chance the container will be unloaded at said partner on Bali, and goods will be delivered to your adress with smaller trucks.
Sorry couldn't be of more help.
Have fun with the move to Bali.
don't read between the lines..i think the words are clear enough...:)

Sorry - you only pay import tax on new stuff? So old tv's, pc's and whitegoods are ok to move in?

    Thanks

Sorry what visa are you using to move to bali with? Its not the tax you pay its the amount of money the customs want to charge you, unless you have all your paper work in order.

what fred means..(if unclear to you, my explanation of his post, if not unclear stop reading)

Depending on what kind of Visa you have, you might have to pay import-tax to the customs.
If you have a retirement-kitas or a kitas with workpermit, you are allowed to bring your personal belongings into Indonesia without having to pay import-tax.
So if you have one of above sort of kitas, then with 'paperwork in order' fred means, that a kopy of your kitas needs to accompany the paperwork of the container.
a Moving-company would take care of packaging and securing your items in the container, and they would make a list of the stuff going in, a kopy of this also goes with the container.

Now if there would be 10 color TV's on that list, I am sure the customs would open everything up..but if it's 3 (new or old is not specified on the list, nor do you have to show receipts) that's no problem.
So new or old makes no difference, keywords are 'personal belongings' ...
