Thread: Any Suggestions on Where to Stay

Hi Friends,

I am new to this forum. Have been hanging around for the past few weeks and have found a handfull of useful information. Thanks a lot.

Have been to Bali and fell amazingly in love with her and is planning to relocate my design and lighting business to Bali by December if everything goes well. I am planning to stay in Bali for around 1 month, at the heart of Bali, among the Balinese to fully understand their culture, lifestyle and of course make new friends.

Any suggestions on where is the best place? Was thinking of places outside tourist frequent areas, but do not know where to begin. Have an idea of renting a two storey shophouse/Ruko for accomodation during my stay.

You leave alot open as where you would like to visit, not sure of where you think the heart of bali is? Sounds like an adventure in the making. Grab a scooter, fill it up and go!!!! Might want to try the search feature some more if you are looking for a more planned out itenerary. But have map will travel is my style. Have fun, Frog

I too am new to the forum although I have been reading daily everyones comments for the last year or so. Anyway just wanted to tell you that I feel Ubud would be a great place for you to check out for your shop/home. Since Ubud is considered the culture center of Bali by many people perhaps that location would be a great place to start. The beauty of the rice fields are nearby, along with many small villages to explore along with the artist's colony and museums. As you can obviously tell I'm impartial to Ubud since when I am in Bali I live in Campuhan Ubud.

If you would have posted this in the expat forum you would have recieved a better response along with a little razzing :-).

I would think you would want to stay where you will set up shop ..... and unless you're already well connected, you won't learn much in one month ...... do you manufacture or are you an interior designer ......... ???
