I have been living in Bali for 12 years and, like many western visitors, I soon realised Bali may be the Island of the Gods, but it is certainly not the island of the Dogs! Being a lifetime dog lover, some of the Bali dogs are in such poor shape and starving, kicked and injured by motorbikes, that I rented an old schoolhouse and made a dog rescue centre. However, two dogs from the beach soon became puppies arriving in plastic bags and in cardboard boxes at my gate. I now have 13 dogs, which for most rational people is hard to imagine. Now, there are just too many and fights break out over my attention and toys etc.
I am therefore appealing to anyone who lives in the Lovina area and has room in their heart to adopt one or more to help me out. They are all very healthy, shiny coats and bright eyes, and very affectionate. Each one has a personality of its own and I love them all, but just can't cope with them all. The boys are all neutered and the girls just had their shots against pregnancy. All have had all their vaccinations and rabies shots, have no worms, fleas or tics. Just a whole lot of love to give. They are FREE to someone with a big heart! I can be reached at 0362-41527, (the staff at Villa Agung Beach Inn can take information), 0819-36354183 (Sandy) or 081-805671943 (Gus).

Your efforts are admirable! From what I've seen it might soon become the Island of the Dogs! When we move there to Lovina area in 4 years perhaps we can see you for animals but I'm worried our villlage neighborhood might already have too many that will require our care. Perhaps we can at least see you for vaccinations and neutering. To me Bali is a good case study regarding the need to better control the pet population and disease as it sounds you are doing. You certainly have your work cut out for you. We hope your efforts are recognized by the Gods. Suksema!
