I saw a post on the home bag about how Bali is being marred by drunken Aussies (Bali Expat Forum - Bali Travel Forum - Bali being marred by druken Aussie bogans) and it got me thinking about how bad the attitude of MOST (but not ALL) tourists is in the Island of gods.

One of the reasons I love Bali so much is because of its rich culture, smiling people, cold bintangs and the smell of incence everywhere.
The only thing I hate about its is other forieners! Dnt get me wrong, not all of us are bad, but you know the ones Im talking about... The tourists that you can find arguing down to the last cent in poppies lane, with there hair in braided, shirt tan exposed by their bintang singlets, sarong wearing loud mouths. YOu sit next to them in massage parlours, and cant help but feel sorry for the balinese girl who has to massage the feet of someone who has clearly never seen a nail clipper in there life time, and leaves without so much as a tip.

And while it angers me that these folk will treat Bali like their toliet seat by carelessly stomping all over the offerings and abusing the locals because they "cant understand their english", it also scares the shit oput of me to think that one day all the things I love about the place will be overtaken by too much western influece.

I guess i dont have much of a reason for this post, and Im sure this message will effect no one concidering anyone that is registered to this website does so becuase of there shared appreciation for Bali. So I guess what Im getting at is I totally agree with that articl. SOME of us need to really pick up our act and start being a bit more respectful otherwise the things we love about Bali will become obsolite.

P.s I am aware my spelling is terrible and I hope you where still able to read this :icon_lol:

Yes , I couldn't agree more. I am Australian but the sight of some of them makes me cringe. The bintang singlet wearing lot. I have come across these types trying to get into Carrefour without a shirt, the accent is a give away. When told they must have a shirt on they normally swear at the security guard.Luckily I don't visit Kuta or it's surrounds often...have also been trapped with these bogans on flights to and fro Oz in the past....what a bunch of drunken idiots....why do people see the need to drink alcohol on an overnight flight and keep everybody else awake.Tell you what, flying from Europe to here , the type of passenger is much better behaved.

Sadly this whole bogan thing is getting worse and it has been brought about by cheap air fares hence a huge influx of some of the worst behaviour i have seen since living here and as Karina points out, the abuse of the offerings on the pavements and the sheer rudeness to the locals.I have seen the male aussie, shirtless, tattoos all over the already ugly body. swigging a bintang and yelling out..."hey i'm a f****** aussie"......sorry but these people should have their passports stamped "never to return"...they are a disgrace to their country and they are a bloody nuisance here and we dont want them.
There are far too many 'aussie sports bars" now which only encourages these sport riddled sad pricks to get even more drunk and create more trouble. On any given day walking around all i hear from the sellers yelling out is "g'day mate...which i simply cannot stand...or "oi mate" to which i simply ignore...and it is getting worse.

This poster has brought up a very good point and one i would like to see more comments.
