Anzac here how are you all,

I'm just curious but when it comes to trusting people in Bali what should I be looking for I have had many 'we start business brother' comments and 'you can trust me' but how do I really know what's going on.

I consider mtself intuitive and I follow my heart - this has got me out of many situations but in Bali what's the tell tale signs.

I'm not generalising I know that people can't be un-trustworthy where ever you go I would just like to get a heads up about this topic.

Regards,
Anzac. :icon_biggrin:

You might want to post your question in the main forum section for a better response:

Your question is not an easy one, but if you already have some doubts then it might not be easy. What kind of business are you thinking of starting?

Hey there thanks for your reply,

I tried to post on main forum wall but had trouble I will try again.

There are few idea's taht I have for a business my partner organises Bali travel tours and visa's for expat and Indonesian tourists I can write websites and I'm in the middle of writting a site for her.

I'm thinking of a small internet cafe just so I can get a business kita's because I'm a engineer here in Australia and I'm thinking of doing six months here then in Bali.

Another business is a small surfing school I'm a surf instructor here.

Not sure I know that a business in Bali will never pay me the wages I get here but the cost of living here in Australia is so expensive - way out of control and there is no work contray to what the rest of the world hear's about the land downunder.

My move to Bali is a information seeking exercise I'm not committing to anything at all I want as much info as I can get so I can make the right decision.

Buying property there is to risky I don't care what people say on this forum - seems to be allot of experts all saying different things I will kep my investments safe in Australia and lease an apartment. I can't justify lease anything because you are throwing money away it's better I buy investment properties here and enjoy there capital growth in Bali.

Thanks for the feedback hope to hear from you again,

One thing to look into is if your partner already has a company set up, they could employ you to get a working visa. There is a US$1200 annual fee you have to pay though, so it's not cheap. Internet cafe is probably not a good idea. A shop near me charges 5000rp an hour. I really wonder how they make money with the cost of the internet/rent/staff, but it could be enough for them to live on.

My partner does not have a company setup but I'm going to try and sort that out when I get to Bali she has many contacts and deserve's her own company she works hard and I'm happy to help and since I can write Websites the cost of setting a company up will be less we have discussed this option and she said she can sort my business visa with her if we go ahead with the compnay.

Internet Cafe yes how do they make money maybe the sell other 'under the counter' items :icon_rolleyes:

The surf school thing is exciting too but this trip is purely a information seeking exercise and I won't commit to anything other than helping my partner and if that doesn't work out at least I know I have given someone a head start they are beautiful people and it saddens me to see so snyone suffer - but that's life hey.

Cheers for the feedback keep it coming - maybe a beer when I get there.

Anzac I suggest following your head instead of following your heart, that way you are less likely to get emotionally snared into some "great business idea" - Tony

Yep I totally agree mate and yes I will follow my head and my gut feeling it seems to have kept me out of trouble.

I get asked if I can get involved witha a 'great business idea' and some Indo's ask for money but the first thing I ask is do they know my surname they always say no and I reply with 'why would I give money to someone who does not know my name'. You should see the looks it's amusing.

I'm not silly and if anything I'm over cautious I won't be caught out I do know there are some great con artists in Bali but I have great intuition I'm hoping it will guide me.
