Thankyou very much in advance
I have an account with Commonwealth in Australia. I can draw maximum of 6,000,000Rp per day in 3,000,000RP lots and I am charged $2.00 Aus for each transaction.

I also have an Indonesian Commonwealth account with Australian dollars, and can draw the same from the ATM or a chunk of bills over the counter.

So far, I've found the cheapest way to access money is at the BCA Credit Card Centre in Jalan Raya Kuta.
I first deposit money to my credit card, then I can draw up to Rp10 million each day.

My bank in Australia (ANZ) charges AU$4 transaction fee plus 1% exchange rate fee. So far, the exchange rate (including the 1% commission) is still comparable with street rates here. I think this is because TT exchange rates are better than street rates.

The only thing to remember, the card must be in CREDIT before you make the transaction (so, in effect, you're taking your own money), otherwise the bank will hit you with a "cash advance" fee which is quite hefty.
Madness takes its toll. Please have exact change.

So for an ATM with Rp100,000 notes you get Rp2,000,000 in one "spit" - that's currently about AU$220. My daily limit on my Aussie account is $1,000 I think which is currently about Rp8.8 million - so I could get the Rp2,000,000 4 times and then a bit more.

There is one difference between ATMs of different banks that may have an impact. Some ATMS give you your money and give you back your card without asking if you want more. So then you put your card back - and if there is any transaction fee - you pay another fee. I know that BNI ATMs will allow to you have several "spits" on the one insertion of the card - which means you can get your daily limit for one transaction fee.
Thanks so much..this is exactly the sort of information I was after. Cheers, it helps a lot.

Great - thanks. CC isn't in credit...maybe this is the sort of incentive I need to make it so...it sure would be more sensible. Might actually be achievable after a couple of months in Bali too...sadly, I'm not exactly renowned for being sensible, but hey you never know - knew country, new life ET AL
