Hi everybody this is my first post so don't be too harsh.
As I understand the situation the Indonesian (or perhaps just the Balinese) authorities make no distinction between voluntary work and paid employment.
So is it possible to do voluntary work with a KITAS?
There may be a slight issue with KITASes now, because the immigration authorities have apparently decided to enforce the “you can can only work for the company that issues the KITAS” rule. This coincidentally follows the talent show jurist (British I think) who seemed to think he could work on TV with a KITAS from his previous job as a English teacher. From what I saw of him being filmed at the immigration offices.
Also does anyone have any links or contacts with charities/help groups etc. (Kuta-Canggu) that may need volunteers on an ad hoc basis (schedule permitting).
Hi Ian, and welcome to the forum. Your understanding is correct, however, since a Kitas is a residence visa, I think the immigration folks (in my experience anyway) would normally not make a fuss over volunteer work unless they had another agenda.
You may want to look into Rotary. There are two Rotary clubs down your way. Good luck and cheers:
