Cool Visas Issue. I need HELP from the experts: Jimbo, matsaleh, gilbert, markit, Ronb.etc

    Hello to everyone.

First of all, my congratulations for this fantastic Blog. You rock guys!

I am from Venezuela, I'm an artist and I will study in Bali for one year, in Denpasar with a scholarship called Darmasiswa. I should be leaving on middle of september 2011. The particularity is that one of the statements of this scholarship is that I CAN NOT bring any family members during my staying in Indonesia. So that broke me down coz i have a wife and 2 kids (2 1/2 years and 2 months). The visa that the embassy should Issue to me is a VITAS that should be convert in KITAS for student for one year once I arrive to Indonesia, so I think my hopes to apply directly a visa to my family with me is are over. However, i've talked to some friends that are already in Bali and they told me that she can travel with another kind of visa: SOSBUD.
I've research in so many forums, webs and blogs about that and I've tried to make a kind of plan to go all together to Bali:

    1. Tramit my Visa as a student normaly.

    2. My wife and kids will apply for a 2 months tourist visa (I beleivek the embassy will give them the 2 months visa with no problems).

3.We all get to Bali, I'd have my VITAS and they'd have tourist.

    4. nearly the second month being there i'd have my KITAS and apply for exit permit to travel with family to Singapore and apply for a SOSBUD. (we have a balinese friend who could be a sponsor)

5.Apply for the for extensions for SOSBUD every month.

    6. after that, go to Singapore again and do 4. and 5. That would be enough for one year.

So i request your advise guys, culd that be possible or i'm just dreaming?

    I have a few questions:

I saw in another threat (Fiskal) that gilbert wrote you could convert your 2 months tourist visa into SOSBUD and make the 4 extensions since they are the same code 211. Is that posible? coz that would save me the money of step 4.
another: My wife and kids can apply for SOSBUD with a letter of invitation and copy of KTP of a balinese friend (sponsor)? or the sponsor must be family only?
Is it necesarry a letter from the sponsor for each one of them or just one for three of them or just for my wife and embassy issues kid's visas throught hers?

i have to say we have a budget of US$15.000 for that year, probably we can get another $5.000 more. Is that ok to make some steps of these crazy plan with an agent and living? (we wont need to pay for home once there since we'll live in my friend's house)

So many thanks in advance guys for all the advises you can give me and your opinion about this crazy plan, jeje.

    Peace. Nano_fv

    Cool

You can apply for your sosbud visa at the Indonesian embassy in your country or transit through Singapore on your way here. just have your friend send a copy of his id card & letter of invite.
About 60.00us per visa & 250,000rp per extension, you can apply 2 months before you leave.
you only need one letter inviting your wife & children.
    hope that helps

Thank you Fred2, although i know i can apply for SOSBUD in my country i shouldn't because they would probably suspect i want to bring my family members and as that is forbidden for the scholarship i think it's better to get 2 months tourist and apply for SOSBUD once we are in Indonesia.
It's very useful your information. Now i know my wife needs just one letter for her and kids.
    Thanks again!

The reason why they have put the condition, of you not allowed to bring your family on your visa is
that, Your sponsor for your visa is not responsible for your family. Your family needs to have a different sponsor & apply for a visa in your country.
Normally when your come on a Kitas you can sponsor your family.

Your plan looks fine. Just go ahead with the Sosbud for now and see what transpires later. Welcome and I hope all goes well for you.
