A good friend of mine were discussing retirement visa, and he wondered if you are 55 and your wife is say 45, does she have the same status. or will she need to do the visa run B.S ???? I have no idea? anyone? thx Frog
It's the same old story...trying to get accurate information in Indonesia is difficult.
The way I see it, your friend's wife (less than 55 years old), will have to deal with her own visa. I know it's stupid, but that's how it is.
And no point going to the Jakarta-based Indonesian expat site. They haven't up-dated anything relevant to "retirement visas" in a long while.
And what they have there right now is patently WRONG.
At least, as far as my personal experiences are concerned.
Oh well. he could buy a mexican passport with an age enhancement for his wife, they are cheap at the flea markets. That should do the trick..
I hope you are wrong Phil as I plan to start the process soon and if Maria cannot get one as well it will be a major setback.

Jimbo,
I am confused. Isn't Maria your wife and isn't she from Toraja?
Keep on smiling.

I hope I'm wrong, too, Jimbo.
The available options to find the right answer?
You could try the Immigration office (best of luck and let us know what they tell you) OR check with a visa agent (like IDE, link on the top right of this screen).
:D
Like Sanurian said, email Bali IDE, they will give you an immediate answer to your query.
Direct your email to Yani.
I recently and painlessly obtained my retirement visa thru them. I am 60 my wife 57, so we narrowly avoided this issue.
Good luck
Maria is from Toraja but has held an British passport for many years ergo she is not Indonesian any more.
I might well try Bali IDE
