Hello all;)
I am wondering if you could help me with a visa question..
I am currently in Canada and looking to apply for a KITA's visa as a woman married to an Indonesian man as well as bringing our 2 year old son.
My husband however has already become a PR in Canada and will be staying in Canada while I go to Indo to study/work.
Does anyone know the process/cost for applying outside of Indo and if I am able to if my husband is currently residing in Canada? He still has his citizenship so I am hoping we would still have the same legal visa rights.... right?
I am also finding many agency websites with 4,500RP as the cost of the visa... Does that seem right or is it cheaper and even possible if we do it ourselves overseas?
I love this forum and grateful for all your wisdom!![]()
If I were you, I would try contacting the Indonesian Embassy in Canada.

But in my mind, since your husband still holds his Indonesian passport, and if you guys have proof of mariage (weddingcertificate), I don't see a problem to apply for this KITAS.. However, you would not be able to legally work in Indonesia (not yet).
as for the price mentioned on agency websites "4500rp.", that's way-way-way too cheap..check the pricelist on the above website.
don't read between the lines..i think the words are clear enough...:)
hi Gilbert. Thank you for you reply... Ooops 4.5jt is what I meant. I had been having troubles explaining to the counselor general in Vancouver but I will call the Ottowa embassy today. I am confused tho... I thought I could work on KITA's? You say not yet...Could you explain? Thank you;)
Making contact with your local consulate or embassy is going to be your first step. I had some email contact from someone who tried getting the same visa in Australia and had a lot of difficulty.
There is not even any mention of the spouse visa on the embassy's website: Consular Services | Consular and Visa
Have you registered your marriage in Indonesia yet?
You can't work on the spouse sponsored visa. The laws have changed recently and being allowed to work was supposed to be part of this. To work you need a working visa, where you need a job and a company to sponsor you for the visa.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat drinking beer all day.
I think you can only apply for the visa in Indonesia, you have to have letters from local government & then sent to Dir/Jen Immigration in Jakarta.
