Thread: Getting permission for Balinese to leave Indonesia

I'd like my Balinese girl friend to accompany me to Korea. Last time I tried to get a visa for her to Japan we were denied and they didn't tell us why. What's the best way to do this and how much should it cost?

you're post is probably titled slightly incorrectly. it's really about 'getting permission for a Balinese to enter Korea (or Japan)'.. rather than 'Getting permission for Balinese to leave Indonesia' - as indonesian's are free to leave indonesia at will, just in case anyone was wondering.

japan may have thought that your gf's intentions were to work there - or not leave as the visa required.. i'm not suggesting that was the case, but a lot of indonesians go and work in japan illegally, picking fruit, etc. my wife's second cousin was in a group of such a few years back and got deported back to indonesia.. just a thought as to why they might have rejected your gf, but again, only they'd know..

Thanks Bert for all the info but that's not really what was meant. Just because they tell you the rules of how to apply doesn't mean they told you the real deal as far as making things happen in Indonesia. There may be officials to pay outside the realm of normal channels to facilitate acceptance. Or a certain way of filling out the forms that increases your likelihood of acceptance.

For example, one person told me that if someone who is a Japanese national is sponsoring the visa, then you're more likely to be accepted. Not sure if thats true but was wondering if anything outside of the way things are done in the U.S., from those of you who have done it before, could help.

It was a surprise to me they wanted an itinerary with every hotel we plan to stay at, where we are going to shop and how we're getting there as in train, bus, etc...

We were really put on the spot because we didn't have that much time on the day we went to the Japanese embassy and now we're supposed to create a 4 week itinerary on the spot. Someone should have mentioned they wanted that before we arrived.

We wanted to write that we will book whatever hotel we can find, since cheap hotels are everywhere, AFTER we get there, and decide where to shop IF we see something we like along the way and if we decide to stay an extra day or two in some city we'll be doing that.

I don't imagine anything like that is going to help our chances of being accepted.

How should we fill out the forms to best advantage? Are there any other scenarios like that we should be aware of? Perhaps there may be some advice along the lines of, if you're not a Korean national then don't try to get a Korean visa for an Indonesian since it's a waste of time and money.

Someone told my gf that you have to use a service if you want to be guaranteed and they'll file the forms for something like 12,000,000 Rph. That sounds like a f!@#k in the "bleep" to me.

I'm Indonesian and I've lived in Seoul for almost 2 years.

My husband is Italian and was assigned in South Korea, so we lived thre as expatriates.

As an Indonesian passport holder, I went there to join my husband without visa. But once I was there, then his Company submitted our visa application based on their sponsorship and all went very well.

I Just noticed that your destination is Japan. That's another question, even though I did get a visa easily at their Consulate here in Milan.

Yes I was confused also because this is the second post regarding this and my partner never had to get permission to leave Indonesia. He needed a visa to get into Australia.

As Korea is not a member of ASEAN, it will not be easy, or fast, to get your Balinese girlfriend a visa to Korea.

As far as I know, the only Korean Consulate office that will issue any visas is the Korean Consulate General office in New York City.
