Hello, This is not a slander campaign to bag the company or the office just a heads up :)
My SosBud Visa renewal is due on the 10th of each month (9th if its 31 days), in may I have taken the passport to Bali Mode on the 3rd of May so I didnt forget closer to the date. This process takes 7 working days from the horses mouth however it can take 21 days on previous dealings with these guys. On the 27th I have gone in and have been told because of a Buddhist holiday it will be back on the 1st of June. I have gone on the 1st and the man I normally deal with was not there but a receptionist informed me to come back on the 3rd. I have gone back on the 3rd and an immigration guy was there, anyway the man I deal with has just handed my passport over on the 3rd and informed me everything was dealt with and to pick it up on the 6th.
On the 6th I have arrived to take my passport, still not back. I ended up getting the stamp done on my passport on the 15th of June, 2011 which caused 7,400,000 IDR in over staying fees. After refusing to pay for this fee due to staff incompetence I was sent down the long guilty road of how I am western he is local, he has kids, if I complain and make him pay he will lose his job etc. It resulting in this man hopefully paying the fees/company absorbing the cost/pulling a favour from immigration (meeting with the manager on Tuesday) however I guess just beware that even if your paying well above the 250,000 renewal fee you are by no means protected from this.
As I say, Im not trying to slag off the company just let people know of my dealings with Kuta office. I know alot of other people who have had no problems with the other offices.
The fine for staying an extra day is 200,000 RP. How they get 7,4000,000 RP for 5 days over due is beyond me. Regardless, call them on their bullshit and don't pay a cent cause it sounds like this whole guilt trip is a scam to line their pockets.
Do you have your passport?
EDIT - Actually going to see the people at your consulate maybe a good idea.

Sorry, I wasnt clear It was due on the 10th of May and wasnt renewed until the 15th of June..
I have refused to pay a cent to them but obviously he is going to go down the guilt trip lane and my boyfriend is dealing with him direct Indonesian - Indonesian.
Yes I have taken my passport after a long battle with this money haha I had to say to him that if my passport wasnt given back I would go to the police and tell them he was using my passport for illegal purposes... It got a bit nasty which isnt too good not too proud there!
Do you think the aus consulate could help with this? I have all of the receipts and documentation between me and balimode stating I handed it in on the 3rd to be renewed on the 10th?
This is my only nerve racking thing is how i can FORCE them into paying? I have to fly out august to renew the visa so this is the time I will find out if they have waived it or not.. In aus we have an ombudsman/consumer affairs etc
ok so you have the stamp then you should be good to go. From my understanding over due fees have to be paid before you get your stamp. It looks like BaliMode have taken care of it already. I would definitely see your consulate though, if theres anyone who can steer you in the right direction its them.
I really doubth the Australian consulate would do anything to help. I have heard of agents making you overstay to earn some extra money. If you use an agent to do your extension, you need keep track of when you visa is going to expire. Even better, just do it yourself. The other scam is for people on working visas, they pocket the $1200 training fee for themselves.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat drinking beer all day.
Thank you, personally I would rather pay the fees than do it myself. Im shocking with time management and remembering to do things and lazy I guess sums it up also haha I cant be bothered dealing with immigration - however this has transferred one problem to another person thats all.
Apart from not using an agent of course Im not too sure how I could have avoided this one. I visited the office easily 8 times in this time frame only to be reassured easch time.
I wont be paying the fee, if it was maybe 200/400 if it went on id save myself the time, effort, headache and pay it however this is just outrageous.
spicyayam, you have a pretty good head for bali from reading previous posts how would you deal with this if the company refuses to pay it? I have to leave the country on the 10th of august so time isnt really on my side and Ive overstayed a VOA for 1 day and just paid at the airport. Im terrified of going to the airport and them asking for this large amount of money.
they have friends/contacts in immigration so Im not convinced that this would be all that payable for them, if they had to pay im sure it would be far less. Im not will to negotiate at any point. When they first mentioned this they did offer a free visa renewal as a call it even.. this was blatantly put down.
Also, can I deal with this the way we deal with incompetent people at home firm, but not rude or do I do it another way?? is the ball in my court on how to deal with them?? Im scared of insulting these people but im not sure if thats a huge problem as they are wrong however i will not be rude
soontobe your consulate probably won't be able to help directly but they should at least be able to give you some advice. Like I said earlier, if you have the stamp already as far as immigration is concerned your over due fee has been paid. Get off your lazy ass, go to your consulate and explain to them your situation and ask them if you'll have trouble leaving next month, they should at least be able to give you a simple answer to that. It will be a lot more productive than worrying about it or asking people on here who haven't had any experience with this problem.
If your passport has the extension stamp, no more payments are required. Tell your agent that they caused the problem, so any extra payments is there problems not yours. You pay extra money to a agent for good service, so I would look for anther agent.
I may have won this round or just have been totally scammed!!
The manager and man I deal with came to my house today to discuss this at 9am as they thought that was a better environment.. I think they just dont want the problem in the office. Anyway they have told me after alot of back and forth that everything is fine no overstay fees. I then replied I want a document stamped and signed by immigration stating that I have no overstayed my visa. The manager then started getting a little nervous and that they could not garuntee this letter because its not normal etc. I then said This is no problem, I want you and man to accompany me to the airport with your credit cards and upto immigration to ensure no mistake is made..
I have now recieved a letter from immigration stating no fees are applicable - we shall see if this is real or fake!
