Hi all! I am also looking at going to Indonesia to teach next year. I have done some research and have seen on the forum that there might be a 25 yr old age requirement for the work visa. I will be 23 shortly and was wondering whether this is the case. Any advice would be really appreciated. As I have seen most of the jobs to be located in Jakarta, I was also wondering whether it is too difficult to leave and go to other beautiful islands. Thanks!
Elena
hai eegrova25,
welcome to the forum..
I was wondering what were you planning on teaching? Not that I have a job on offer..
But I can just imagine it would be kinda hard to find an employer in the education department willing to pay for your worklicense...
don't read between the lines..i think the words are clear enough...:)
Hi Elena: regarding minimum age requirement for getting a work visa - You may want to post your question on the other expat forum (www dot livinginindonesiaforum dot org) - the moderator there is very knowledgeable in regards to Indonesian Immigration Laws and Visa matters.
Not sure what your qualifications are - but you can always start by doing an online inquiry about the schools you are interested in working for. E-mail them and see if they have an opening and tell them your background and qualifications. Here are some of the international schools in Bali that I am aware of:
Bali International School (English Curriculum)
Australian International School
Sanur Independent School
Canggu Community School

Yayasan Dyatmika
Gandhi Memorial School

My son attended Australian International School for 4 years - while he was there, it seemed like the teachers have short contracts and move around quite a bit. So that could create an need. Good luck.
