I personally would not be interested in paying a fee. But in general, I think it would generate a lot more traffic to your site if you did allow people to advertise their property. i imagine it would be easy to get rid of the spammers and the companies putting on ridiculous amount of ads. There are not many sites that 'normal people' can advertise their houses on so it would probably be worth doing.
More traffic means more costs. The problem is trying to draw a line somewhere and how do you define 'normal'? What makes you think it is easy to control?
How to control agents putting up overpriced property ads and villas charging $1000 a day? Surely if you are selling a $100,000 plus property, you can afford to pay $20 for an ad?
My boyfriend is a software engineer so I have a limited knowledge of websites. I would have thought more traffic would increase advertising revenue.
People will not want to pay $20 for an ad because most are use to getting that kind of stuff for free on sites like Gumtree and Craigslist. Maybe some people will pay it but not many, which will still leave a gap in the market for 'normal people' wanting to sell of the remaining four months of their lease, or to do their landlord a favour by putting his house up.
If you are in Bali, it is relatively 'easy' to find a house for the year for 30 million however if you were to look on the web, there is nowhere. There are plenty of places to find $100,000 or $200,000 villas but so many to find a cheap bungalow/villa for the year. That is just my opinion though.
Yes, you are probably right. But even Craigslist charges for some ads.
Really thanks for such a good forum and sticking to strict rules. This will surely help. Hope to see new destinations in the forum. :)
