Hi Guys!!

I'm from the UK...i married my long-term girlfriend from Jakarta.
I can't give advice on the tourist visa because i never went down that road....what we did apply for was a marriage visa at the UK embassy the last time i was in Jakarta which will offer a 6 month Uk entry.

What i needed:

Recent phone bills
Bank account statements
Mortgage Statements
Letter from myself inviting her to the UK and to finacially support her
Letter also has to be signed by my parents
Letter from my employer in the UK
Intended date of marriage

The interview at the UK embassy was very easy and they where totally nice people.

Not really difficult at all...we have now been married for over a year and she has a good job here.

I have to say that i have been in relationships before but nothing comes close to the love that an Indonesian girl has to offer...i have never been so happy...so maybe a marriage visa might just be the thing for you?

Just my thoughts...good luck to you mate.

To Australia a Tourist visa generally requires a letter of Support, as you can ONLY sponsor a family member/relative. As she is your girlfriend you would probably have to write a letter inviting her to join you in the UK. I ahve written 3 of these for my partner before he became my husband & am currently trying to help a few friends. I am guessing Uk & Aus would be similar...?
Basically I wrote a letter saying howlong I had known him & he's family & how I would spend much of my holidfay with his family etc. So to repay the favour I'd like to invite him to Australia, where I would be responsible for his airfare, accom, meals any Medical needs, etc, etc...
He had his own monies saved for spending etc so I wrote this & did like Mimpi transferred money into his account which he then used to buy the ticket even though I had said I'd pay!
The first time he got a 4 week visa, then about 6 months later he got 3months & then another 3 months.
I would not advise the Traveller' cheques as they will probably out rightly accuse her of not actually owning them! I know of a girl who had $10,000(AUS) in cash & went in with her application & they rejected her as it wasn't in her account etc...
I hope this helps, but I'd contact the UK Embassy in Indonesia & ask what things they require for the holiday visa!!!! I also think it makes a big difference if they are in a bad or good moods on the day you lodge it!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!
