Sharing Bali with our children....

Hi - I am new to the Forum, and have been enjoying all of the different topics covered. It is good to read posts by others who have a love for Bali as a place to live not just a place to shop.

My husband and I fell in love with Bali 5.5 years ago on our second (we had only been married 3 years) honeymoon, we tell our 4 year old she was conceived while we were in Bali - not too sure if this is really correct but it is a good story!

We are bringing her to Bali for herfirst visit at the end of the month, she is excited and counting down the sleeps (12 to go!). Many of our friends and family are not convinced taking her to Bali is a good idea - they are concerned with recent travel warning etc. My husband an I disagree - we could take her any where in the world and be under threat, as parents it is our role to provide her with a safe, rounded and balanced childhood - is showing her one of our favourite places giving her an opportunity as a person to grow,learn and be and do as she wants?

My older 2 children (11 and 14), both love Bali as my husband and I do - we brought them 2003, 2004 and will be bringing all 3 over for 3 weeks in April. My son (14), has an idea he would like to spend a year in Bali when he finishes school, surfling and volenteering. I am 100% behind him if he decides to do this - what better way to start his life than a year in paradise!

I think ... it´s a good idea ... if we can organise exchange between indonesian family and foreigner. Your son can be living in one balinese family (or mix couple family), and the other year (or maybe in the same year) ... the child from this familiy can living with your family... like Like the exchange programm of AFS but its should be simple.
Or maybe someone from this forum can starting with new bussines program "Asrama" (like residential-scholl) for childern, whos coming to bali without parent)...
