Could anyone imagine what Kuta would be like if some clever government official introduced Responsible Service??
I think its safe to say most people have got drunk in Indonesia, but the states that people are getting themselves into is disgusting!
I went to see a friend on Poppies 2 last night and I havent been there in the nighttime in a verrryyy long time and I can safely say I wont reenter poppies 2 for a veryyyyy long time.
Can anyone see a way of stopping these dropkicks getting themselves totally written off??
I have always noticed the drunken antics here, Im not sure if Im more aware or if it is getting worse:
- French guys in a bar in kuta throwing metal ashtrays into the fans, clothes, wallets the bar girl went nuts and then served them tequila shots 2 minutes later?
- Poppies 2 - Australian men trying to push people off Scooters and opening peoples car doors (This is the worst Ive seen it)
- A very large girl at sky garden had to be maneuvered down the stairs of skygarden because she couldnt walk and then proceeded to power spew all over the poor cop and his gun
- An Australian for whatever reason decides to punch the glass of Circle K at 4am causing it to smash
These are just a few examples.. Its annoying me so much lately.. there's my whinge haha

I was in Legian the other week and you're right, the place is getting worse. People there are out of control, I saw one guy almost get into a fight with a security guard only to drop nuts when a Police Officer intervened. Maybe if the police were paid a commission for every dickhead who broke the law they might actually clean up the place.
That is such a good idea! I was reading in jakarta (i think borborigmus) was saying parking officers get comission.. I would support this for police here.. I was in skygarden one night, this girl couldnt walk fell down the steps so her friend kept her there whilst she went to get magic mushrooms to "sober her up"??
I have to say though, its not just 18-25 year olds, adults have no respect for the locals here and kids! This older american/canadian woman was on Padma beach surfing and she came out of the water upto the carpark and said "I hate this place there is too many fing asians".. I had to step in and remind her she was infact in asia.
By god, the Kids aswell though, I dont know where they get the attitude but the way they speak to locals in markets makes my jaw drop.. ergh.. Im just in a whingey mood I guess but Im so over these pieces of shit from perth getting a $99.00 ticket to bali through one of these budget airlines and thinking they are gods gift to Indonesia.
Have to agree with both soontobeexpat & BKT, in the 17 years I have been coming to Bali the standard of visitors has dropped. I am not sure if the cheap airlines are allowing bogins who have never left there suburb let alone travel outside Australia (and other places) arrive with the sole intention of getting drunk beyond control and not giving a s--t about upsetting the locals or anyone else. Because it is cheap we now have dumb arse parents sending their kids to Bali for schoolies armed with a pocket full of cash and no guidance. It used to be bad on the Gold Coast at schoolies but there a laws and controls, take this away in Bali and its a disaster waiting to happen. Personally had a case of a clan of 20 from a small town in WA wreck everyones holiday at one hotel with their drunken fighting and ranting for 5 nights. Staff did their best to control them but these people were just out and out bogins. They probably look back at there holiday and think it was great. No sure how you curb it?
You could lock them up for the rest of their holidayNo sure how you curb it?That would certainly send a clear message that this kind of behavior is not tolerated. At least it is pretty much confined to Kuta. There was the case a couple of years ago where a New Zealand man was killed after getting in a fight with the security staff at the bounty. Drunk foreigner bashed in Kuta
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat drinking beer all day.
There was a couple of schoolies in a pretty bad way after a bike accident last year, I am not sure but one of them may have passed away but there was a heap of rumours about it. Straightforward if you ask me "Young, Drunk and riding a Motorcycle" I agree a very large drunk tank may work.
They sooooooooooooo need to ask the question of every passenger that books and pays for a flight if they are in fact a BOGAN and going to cause problems and be indecently behaved when they come here to Bali!
Cheap flights should be banned as they encourage bad attitude visitors here. :>)
Who is going to pay the police the bribe to keep it under control? The drunk loud mouth bogan?
Like this amongst many other places need another ACT OF GOD................gosh forbid.
Yeah I am sorry and sad to hear about the crap on the streets, but hey tourists/bogans bring the bucks and spend and keep local
families with a roof over their heads and food on the table.
There we go for my blonde imput.
Here is my past experiences with bogan Aussies on there way from Oz to Bali.
As I travel back to Oz @ 3 times a year for business,l have the misfortune to return back here to Bali with a fresh lot of tourists.
One time about 10 years ago, when the flight went from Melbourne to Adelaide and then onto Bali,we were screaming down the runway as the plane was landing in Adelaide. These 2 teenage kids, who had been throwing down their duty free alcohol, jumped out of their seats and started running down the aisle....Bogans
Another time, the passenger next to me,decided as we were landing in Bali soon, needed to change his clothesinto something lighter, this guy had been drinking non stop for 6 hours, he dropped his tracky pants right in the aisle and put on a pair of shorts..Bogan
Another time an a middle aged couple, who also had been drinking heavily, fell on the floor when waiting to collect their bags, they just lay there laughing.I turned to the guy next to me and said, another couple of ambassadors for the country!!....Bogans
But the best of all was one time leaving here in Bali.As l left my wife and kids and proceeded towards the enterance of the airport,l noticed 2 guys, one Japanese and the other Australian.
Believe me this is true, the Aussie had no shirt and a towel wrapped around his waist with bare feet. The Japanese guy had board shorts with no shirt and bare feet. The were both arguing with the security guy,who obviously wouldn't let them in....BOGANS
Unfortunately about 25% of the Aussie travelers should NEVER be allowed to have a passport issued.

@soontobeexpat
What's the name and address of this place, exactly? At least nobody got killed.French guys in a bar in kuta throwing metal ashtrays into the fans, clothes, wallets the bar girl went nuts and then served them tequila shots 2 minutes later?
Obnoxious tourists should come as no surprise, especially in high-density tourist areas. Of course, few local people actually "like" them, but they usually have money to spend (throw away), on their holiday.
The ones who go ape-shit are a right pain (and embarrassment for others). Pointing fingers at specific nationalities (like Australians), is unfair (IMHO).
Drunken Balinese are not any better. Check out some Balinese "cafes" late at night. Prostitutes everywhere, locals pissed on beer and arak, stoned on shabu-shabu and ecstasy, gang wars going on or being planned...you name it. When Balinese lose the plot, they can get very nasty (and violent, if there's more than one of them). Enough to make those French guys look like an episode of Play School.
Bali really does have two faces - the Seen and the Unseen. Some of the "Unseen" parts are there to see, if one makes the effort. I could write about some of the astonishingly ugly and deadly altercations I've witnessed over the years, but I'd rather forget them. There is no doubt in my mind that they still go on, and are increasing in frequency. Population pressure and unemployment are two main factors.
Let's keep this stuff in perspective.
