Hong Kong to Bali flight

Postby Rliew on Sat Apr 19, 2008 10:52 am

Any more suggestions on flights? Singapore Airlines and Thai do this route with stopovers but are quite high for a 3mth ticket. I am looking at taking Jetstar to Jakarta and then Garuda to Denpasar. Long flight yes...but both of these give 20KG allowance in baggage and much cheaper than Thai and SAir. Is it Garuda that crashes or Adamair?
I tried looking for a HK-Denpasar flight on the Garuda website but how come it only lets me look up domestic flights??

If you go to schedule and fare you can get the flight times.

Check out Air Macau flights into Jakarta. Macau is just a quick (less than one hour) hydrofoil ride from HK (across the Pearl River) and now with direct terminals at Macau’s international airport.

For the most part, these flights between Macau and Jakarta are gambling junket return flights, but at US $100 from Macau (HK) to Jakarta, (one way), impossible to beat. Your options from JKT to DPS are many, and cheap as well. Tip...do NOT fly on weekends, as rates are at least double.

As far as I know, aside from a very slow boat, there is no way to get from there, to here, that is cheaper.

Roy,

This airline was new to me, so I checked the Website out. I find HK - JKT to be $488 (OW), not $100. Maybe $100 is on a stand-by status?

Daniel, the prices on that web site for Air Macau are given in MOP...Macau Patacas. The current US dollar to MOP exchange rate is US $1 = 8 MOP.

Right, Roy. I had read "MOP $ 900," so I overlooked the "MOP." :(

No sweat. Actually, it’s kind of interesting that while both Macau and Hong Kong have returned to mainland China that both retain their local currencies.

Hello All,
Thank you for all the quick responses!
Roy I checked out Viva and yes it definetly sounds better assuming the flight is direct as opposed to the stopover Jetstar has. I see that Garuda has a HK-Jakarta-Denpasar flight but am unable to find a price. Tried calling their HK office this morning and no answer?? They don't list a number for a local agent so I am guessing the only way for me to get a price and buy a ticket is through their office at the HK airport?

Thanks

does anyone know if the lounges at Jakarta Airport are all exclusive? If I take the Viva flights from Macau both departure and arrival times are around 1AM. For the arrival it'd be great to crash at a lounge for a few hours before a morning flight.

Rliew,

If you buy your GA ticket at the a/p, you'll pay through the nose. HKG has many "bucket shops" in Central and Kowloon, where you can get tickets at great discounts, including GA.

I don't know about the HKG - JKT price, but the JKT - DPS, official GA's price, in Economy Moderate, is about Rp920,000 (US$100).
Keep on smiling.

I use a priority pass card that gives me entry to some but not all. I have also heard you can pay around 50,000 Rp officially to use some of the lounges. The only snag is that a lot of them are closed in the early hours.

If anyone can find this useful. If you fly HK to Bali the best deal seems to be Garuda HK-Jakarta-Denpasar Buy it from Sincerity Travel they have many branches in HK. They qouted 4250HKD including taxes for 3 mth ticket return. Less for a 2 mth return. ANd if you are an indonesian worker in HK (don't know how one could be considered...) it is less than 3000 HKD
You get to Bali at 1AM

If you fly the budget Viva Macau like I am now you have to fly Macau-Jakarta and then buy a seperate leg for Jakarta-Bali from domestic airline. As of now there is only one daily flight and gets to Jakarta midnight. PLus HK to Macau airport requires cab, ferry and cab again which adds to about 400HKD both ways and off course, time...
